Yes. It is made from industrial-grade, high density, non-toxic rubber that is EN71 and REACH safety certified, testing the physical and chemical properties. No dog toy is truly indestructible but this is not a self-chew toy and should only be used as intended with adult supervision. It is designed to be gentle on the gums yet durable for daily play. Caution should be used at all times and forceful play should be avoided. It remains the responsibility of the owner to assess the suitability to their respective dog, if in doubt then consult a veterinary opinion.
Ensure it is specifically dog toothpaste as human toothpaste contains ingredients like fluoride and xylitol that are harmful to them. Look for 'Enzymatic toothpaste' or 'contains enzymes' which break down plaque and fights odour-causing bacteria. Consider dog-Safe Flavours: Chicken, poultry, liver, or vanilla to encourage adherence.
There are 2 sizes available. Small: For small/medium dogs under 20kg. Large: For medium/large dogs over 20kg. *If your dog is a large medium with a larger mouth but not quite over 20kg then perhaps a large would be more suitable*
Teeth and gums can be more sensitive at a young age due to teething, with loose teeth also, so it is best to wait until their adult teeth are established. Some dogs take longer than 6 months to finish teething so please make that individual judgement for the suitability of your dog
Extremely. Oral hygiene is something that needs ongoing care & attention and mechanical brushing remains the gold standard approach to manage it. Dogs are susceptible to the same dental issues as humans. They are actually more susceptible as plaque hardens quicker in dogs.-Plaque starts to harden within 24hrs-Dogs teeth are pointier creating more crevices for bacteria to accumulate-Dogs have more teeth and smaller dogs mouths are more crowded increasing their risk of dental diseaseDental disease involves plaque build-up (accumulation of bacteria) which can turn into hard tartar, inflamed/bleeding gums, gum recession, pain, tooth decay & loss, abscesses.Healthy gums stop oral bacteria entering the bloodstream. Damaged gums from plaque accumulation mean that bacteria from the mouth is constantly entering the bloodstream and can damage vital organs, causing organ failure, and can lead to reduced life expectancy.
Bristle Buddy is designed to compliment regular brushing and other veterinary dental advice, not replace it. If a dog refuses a toothbrush all together, efforts should still be made, however Bristle Buddy is a fantastic option to encourage mechanical brushing into their routine.
Consistency is key! Canine oral hygiene guidelines such as AVMA & RSPCA advise daily mechanical brushing (as plaque can form & harden within 24hrs). 2-3x per week as a minimum. Due to its simple design, Bristle Buddy makes it easy for you to include as part of your daily routine. A few minutes per day is ideal!
Rinse thoroughly under warm water ensuring you remove any food debris & toothpaste. Leave out to dry. Replace if worn or damaged.
We will work quickly to ship your order as soon as possible. We deliver from the UK, delivery times vary depending on your location. If you are UK it should be with you in 1-2 working days. For European orders it may take longer.
We use a rubber that is firm enough to disrupt plaque but flexible enough to massage the gumline without causing irritation. It’s more gentle than nylon-bristled toothbrushes, making it ideal for dogs who usually hate having their teeth brushed. They will also be having way too much fun.
